Blacksmiths nsw is a coastal suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia adjacent to the Pacific Ocean 24 kilometres (15 mi) south of Newcastle’s central business district, between the suburbs of Belmont and Swansea.

The suburb has various facilities that makes it unique, the facilities include caravan park,soccer club,a primary school, the Blacksmiths Nature Reserve,Blacksmith Beach and Nine Mile Beach.the suburb has a population of 1,844 people according to the census that was carried out in 2011. The area was first known as Kalibah before the locals changed the name to blacksmiths. In 1877 Blacksmiths was a depot during the building of Swansea Bridge, also during the building of northern breakwater and coal-loading staithes which were installed on the Blacksmiths side of channel. Transportation is either by ship to the ports or By roads.
The first post office was set up in 1937 and also the first public school which was opened in 1962.
This quiet beach-side suburb provides access to both the sea and Lake Macquarie. Although it was originally called Kahibah, the presence of a blacksmiths shop led to locals referring to the area by this name, which then stuck.
