In 1905 this suburb was subdivided, originally the suburb was known as Estelville which was named after a local politician. In 2005 approval was given to built $6.2million shopping centre which also included Woolworths supermarket and Harrigan’s Irish pub,construction of the shopping centre commenced in 2016.
The suburb has a go-kart circuit that hosts many major national karting events including the Australian CIK stars of karting series and the NSW state Titles.
Once the home of collieries, Cameron Park has been tranformed into a shopping and commercial area. It is also the site of a famous speedway track, which was named after Ian Cameron, who was one of the founders of Australian speedway racing. The suburb also bears his name.
Keeping up the racing theme, Cameron Park hosts a go-kart circuit which hosts major national karting events.
